Thalassio's offerings will benefit you the most if you have:
- a profession that demands skillfulness in complex, dynamic, living systems,
- a role in leading, influencing, empowering or teaching others,
- some experience in movement practice e.g. pilates, yoga, surfing, climbing
- the desire, for yourself and others, to be more mindful, happy and effective,
- an openness, including to how meditation, one's mental attitude and practice can be non-separate from action, one's embodiment and performance.
Thalassio is an abbreviation of Thalassophilic, derived from Greek meaning 'sea-loving'. This refers to the benefits the ocean provides, including as a source of analogies and insights which evoke wisdom, and as a domain in which to practice.

Sources of the training
Some training is completed strictly in one tradition e.g. Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong in the Forest Rock school. Other trainings draw from one or more tradition. The sources of specific practices will be acknowledged in each session and include:
- Qi Gong - as taught in the Forest Rock School (Peter Caughey)
- Tai Chi and Martial Arts - training in the art of Cheng Hsin (Peter Ralston)
- Leadership Development - diagnosis and coaching using
- PRINT system (Paul Hertz Group) and
- Leadership Development Framework (Harthill)
- Meditation and Mindfulness - drawing on western and eastern scientific approaches, including Theravadan and Mahayana Buddhist practice
- Watermanship - drawn from two decades of surfing, swimming and diving and coaching from expert teachers.
The facilitator
Andrew Outhwaite has 25-years experience in movement practices, martial arts and meditation and has been facilitating training and workshops since 2005.
Andrew's relevant qualifications include those below, and in each case are based on hundreds of hours of practice, study, testing and ongoing development.
- Qi Gong - Forest Rock Qi Gong Teacher (since 2024)
- Cheng Hsin - Consciousness Facilitator and Kyu 2 Martial Arts (since 2017)
- Harthill - Authorised Leadership Development Framework Coach (since 2008)
- PRINT - Certified PRINT Coach (since 2019)
- Mental Health First Aid - Mental Health First Aider Accreditation from Mental Health First Aid Australia (since 2022)
- Watermanship - Level 2 Training with One Ocean International (Since 2020)
- Meditation - ~ 7500 hours of practice including 25 x 10-day retreats (since 2001) and facilitation of retreats in four different traditions (since 2005)
- Martial Arts - trained in Wing Chun Kung Fu, Cheng Hsin, Ju Jutsu, Muay Thai and Taoist Tai Chi.
- Facilitation - facilitated more than 500 workshops on topics including leadership, communication and innovation for school-children, business leaders and academics. It's been part of Andrew's profession since 2003 to facilitate systemic change for regions, innovation ecosystems and regional 'blue economies'.
